Scouting Safely
Boys Scouts Troops are known for organizing various outdoor activities and adventures like camping, campfire and more. The adventures organized by Boys Scouts are safe for boys, scouts leaders and volunteers. In order to provide safe outdoor activities to its boys and all other participants, Scouts Troop provides safety resources, training, awards and information to promote safe scouting.
The safety resources offered by Scouts troop include weather smart resources that provide scout boys and scout leaders with whether news and resources required, when preparing for bad whether conditions experienced during an outdoor activity. The best way to enjoy a safe outdoor activity is to manage risks through risk management, which includes a combination of right planning, enough training, tough leadership, right judgment and ability to take responsibility. Boys Scouts Troop 195 reminds its participants how they can secure their food from bears by hanging the food out of the reach, how they can deal with avalanches by using possible weather information and more.
Driver’s pledge is a safety resource that provides scout driver with safety points when driving a scout troop convoy to a camp area or other outdoor site. Using the Driver’s Pledge, driver could avoid many mishaps that could possibly happen during a drive through a camp area or adventure region.

The awards for scouting safely include BSA Ready and Prepared Award, Kayaking BSA Award, BSA Physical Fitness Award, SCUBA BSA Award, Emergency Preparedness Award and Snorkeling BSA Award. Whereas, the merit badges given for Scouting Safely includes Merit Badges for Safety, First Aid, Lifesaving, BSA Lifeguard, Mile Swim, Traffic Safety, Fire Safety, Swimming and Emergency Preparedness. |
